Phys Ed Level 2 builds on knowledge and experiences from Year 11. It is a combination of practical and theory lessons. This gives opportunities for ākonga to enhance wellbeing and improve performance in a range of physical activities.

Ākonga who succeed in Level 2 Physical Education will demonstrate a high level of understanding of the application of biophysical principles and be competent in designing training programmes for specific purposes, for specific training needs.
Biophysical principles include; principles and methods of training, exercise physiology and sport psychology. You will have an understanding of the biomechanical,anatomical and physiological factors influencing sport and how to take advantage of this knowledge to enhance your own and others' performance.
You will also begin to develop an understanding of effective leadership in physical activity.
In this course, you will do a combination of theory and practical lessons. Relating the knowledge from the classroom into a practical context.
This course is fully internally assessed with a mixture of 3 written assessments and 1 practical achievement standard.
Standard 91329 - Application of biophysical principles to training for physical activity (internal)
Standard 91330 - Perform a physical activity in an applied setting (internal)
Standard 91328 - Relating biophysical principles to learning physical skills (internal)
Standard 91332 - Evaluate leadership strategies that contribute to the effective functioning of a group (internal)
Class resources such as online videos, worksheets and handouts will be provided on the class site and through google drive.
