When does this course run: This course runs in either Semester 1 or 2 (ākonga can only choose one).
Visual Arts: In this class ākonga will explore a range of practical approaches to drawing, painting, printmaking and develop an understanding of artists and their work. Ākonga will use this knowledge to inform and expand their own creative thinking to produce artworks that express personal ideas.

Working on art projects is an opportunity for ākonga to improve their self-management skills, which prepares them for more independent work in the senior school. 10 Art is relevant for ākonga who are studying a wide range of other subjects where attention to detail, creating and interpreting images, and critical thinking are all important skills.

How to use a visual diary to record planning, research, and the development and creating art works.
Expanding knowledge on the making of art works through the study of Artists.
Ākonga will be working independently and in small groups. The school theme of Migration will be explored visually within a number of projects.
NCEA Level 1 art and NCEA Level 2 and 3 Painting
An A3 spiral bound art pad and A3 art case, 2 and 4B pencils, eraser and ruler.
