This is a UE approved course that offers at least 14 credits. Entry into this course is at least 10 credits from L2 Mathematics.
In Level 3 Mathematics ākonga will continue to develop the resilience and perseverance necessary to further extend their mathematical skills into problem-solving scenarios as applied in real-life situations. Ākonga will develop their statistical investigation abilities and expand upon their algebra and number knowledge.
There is very little online work in this class. Most of the mahi will be done independently in exercise books. Ākonga will learn to transfer the abstract learning from a broad spectrum of mathematical strands to solve problems in more contextually rich scenarios.
Ākonga are assessed internally
They will do:
Standard 91587 Apply systems of simultaneous equations in solving problems (internal)
Standard 91574 Apply linear programming methods in solving problems (internal)
Standard 91576 Use critical path analysis in solving problems (internal)
Standard 91583 Conduct an experiment to investigate a situation using experimental design principles (internal)
Standard 91581 Investigate bivariate measurement data (internal)
There is no subject endorsement available for this course
Ākonga would benefit from having:
Level 3 Simultaneous Equations Learning Workbook
Level 3 Critical Paths Learning Workbook
Graphics calculators, chromebooks, rulers, pens and an exercise book are all necessary items for this course.
