Senior science is a course available for students to continue Science without having to do a full Level 2 or 3 Science course.
This course can include a combination of external and internal assessment

Senior Science allows you to select different aspects of Science from the four main areas of Science: Biology, Chemistry, Earth and Space, and Physics.
This allows you to continue to build your understanding of a range of areas of Science and skills, without having to focus on just one branch.
Ākonga select the standards that they wish to do and thus can build a course for themselves that contains as many or as few internal and external standards.
Depending on the areas of Science that you choose to focus on, you will learn the knowledge associated with that area and the skills needed to continue your studies in Science.
You will select the Achievement standards that you choose to do. These can be from Level 2 or 3, however it is generally recommended that Year 12 students complete Level 2 standards. Learning is via self-directed research, practicals and workbook activities
It is expected that most students will complete up to 4 different standards in the year. Assessment is based on the Achievement standards selected by a student.
Students will have access to various workbooks are available in class and the Internet.
