This course will be a great choice for those ākonga who would simply like the opportunity to be active in their school day. They will also have the opportunity to collaborate in the planning of movement experiences included throughout the semester.
Akonga will focus on the positive impact that participation in movement experiences has on hauora/wellbeing and self-confidence. They will experience co-operation, collaborating with others and kotahitanga as well as time for personal reflection.
All learning will be in a practical context, the nature of the activities will be somewhat guided by the ākonga in the class. These may include, badminton, tennis, fitness, walking, modified team games, bowls, traditional māori games.
This is a good choice for those interested in moving on to an extra curricular sport, or to continue with PE, moving to Sports Ed and eventually Senior PE.
All course learning material will be provided in class. Akonga are required to bring their own change of PE gear for all lessons.
