When does this course run: This course runs in either Semester 1 or 2 (ākonga can choose one or two semesters).
Year 9 & 10 Digital Technology will introduce ākonga to the full scope of possibilities in the digital world. Ākonga will get a taste of creating various media outcomes such as images, video, animation and games.

Digital Technology will introduce you to the wide scope of creative opportunities there are in the digital world. You will get a taste of the various skills you learn in creative media to help you decide whether you want to look deeper into a specific skill set you enjoy and/or have a talent for. Digital Technology is an excellent course for you if you to try out a class that covers all that this subject area has to offer.
Media skills such as image, sound, and video editing, as well as animation.
Programming for games
Media literacy and Online safety.
Deep learning competencies such as collaboration, creativity, critical thinking and cultural awareness.
Ākonga will work through short tasks to develop skills in the various media types and related softwares, culminating in challenges to design specified outcomes based on promoting our school themes of Wai/Migration in an interesting and informative way. They will learn the design process along the way and be given an opportunity at the end of the course to design their own passion project using their favourite medium from the skills learnt.
Students can carry on into further studies of Digital Technology, Digial Media, Gamification and into NCEA L1 Digital Technologies
