When does this course run: This course runs in either Semester 1 or 2 (ākonga can only choose one).
Year 9 Food & Nutrition studies the factors that influence the Hauora (wellbeing) of individuals and families within the home and community. Otaki College ākonga in Food & Nutrition will apply the holistic health model of Te Whare Tapa Wha - and how to learn how nutrition can fulfil all of the dimensions thereof. Ākonga will see the connections between food choices and Hauora (wellbeing) as well as Manaakitanga, Kaitiakitanga and Culture.
Food and nutrition also focuses on developing knowledge and skills about the preparation, and serving of food for family and friends.
