Level 1 Engineering Design gives ākonga an introduction to engineering. The skills learnt in the course will assist in many trades.
Level 1 Engineering Design covers reading engineering drawings, sheet metal work, use of hand tools, lathes, drill presses and welding. You will also learn to create computer models of parts through an online CAD package.
Ākonga will use a range of skills to complete projects along with supporting bookwork. These projects and bookwork will be the evidence towards the standards being assessed against.
Level 1 Engineering Design will be assessed through internal unit standards. These are;
Standard 22926 - Demonstrate knowledge of safety procedures in a specific engineering workshop (internal)
Standard 22923 - Demonstrate basic engineering workshop skills under close supervision (internal)
Standard 4433 - Select, use, and care for simple measuring devices used in engineering (internal)
