When does this course run: This course only runs in Semester 1.
Playing in a band: ākonga will spend time learning how to play an instrument in a group with a variety of people.

Music will increase ākonga enjoyment in life, help develop confidence, explore creativity, and increase literacy.
Ākonga are learning to:
Play instruments in a group together
Perform to an audience (this may be just the class)
Work collaboratively with different people
Follow a lead sheet
Identify sections in music (this could be a song or instrumental)
Read music notation
Class and small group learning. The school theme of migration will be explored by reflecting on the journey/progress ākonga have taken throughout the semester.
This course will lead to NCEA Level 1 music. It is encouraged that music is studied in Year 9 and Year 10 to be successful in NCEA.
There are no required course material for this course.
