Outdoor Education at Otaki College will provide ākonga with unique experiences related to the outdoors throughout the year. Skills learned in ODE3 thoroughly prepare ākonga wishing to choose a career in the outdoors.
Level 3 Outdoor Education at Otaki College will provide students with unique experiences related to the outdoors throughout the year.
Ākonga will be challenged in a range of outdoor activities that they choose, including; rock climbing, abseiling, kayaking, river crossing, bush survival and mountaineering. While gaining these technical skills ākonga will also learn about; safety management, leadership, group dynamics, environmental sustainability and responsible practices. This learning takes place in river, bush, rock and mountain environments as well as in classroom theory lessons.
This course is assessed through Achievement Standards and Unit Standards. All afternoon/day trips and overnight experiences are compulsory and will assist ākonga in passing.
