When does this course run: This course only runs in Semester 1.
Yr 9 Horticulture allows ākonga to appreciate and understand how plants function and to produce a garden using skills developed throughout the course. Ākonga will gain a good general background in horticultural science and an understanding of the enjoyment of growing and caring for plants.

Horticulture gives you a good introduction to be able to grow and care for plants.
Seed sowing, plant propagation techniques, how to recognise pests and diseases, aspects of soil science, how a plant grows and what it needs.
Students will both do in class lessons which are reinforced with practical activities.
This course leads to Year 10 Horticulture and NCEA L1 Horticulture
Course material will be supplied as part of the course.
