When does this course run: This course runs in either Semester 1 or 2 (ākonga can choose one or two semesters).
Year 9 & 10 Digital Media is the way to get your ideas, products, skills or talent out to the world. In the modern era of online activity, being able to share your story in an interesting or informative way is reliant on being able to create interesting media to portray it, whether it be image, sound, animation or video.

Digital Media will equip you with the skills to create and edit your own or others’ content to create the sort of online presence required to promote your talent, business or cause in the digital world. This subject will also look at how to navigate the world of media with an objective eye.
Media skills such as image, sound, and video editing, as well as animation
Design processes for creative outcomes
Media literacy and online-safety
Deep learning competencies such as collaboration, creativity, critical thinking and cultural awareness
Ākonga will learn media skills through a range of short tasks culminating in challenges to exhibit their skills for each media type, presenting our school themes of Wai/Migration in an interesting and informative way. In the 2nd term of this course ākonga will work through the design process to create a personal or group project utilising the range of skills they have learnt.
Students can carry on into further studies of Digital Technology, Digial Media, Gamer Tech and into NCEA L1 Digital Technologies
