This course is suitable for those who enjoy Mathematics and wish to build upon what they have learned in level 1. The course will provide the basis for carrying on to level 3 Statistics and level 3 Calculus.
A mixture of Mathematics and Statistics providing the bridge between level 1 Mathematics and both Calculus and Statistics
Ākonga will learn Algebra, Calculus, Trigonometry, Statistical Inference, Co-ordinate Geometry. Taking skills learned in previous years and advancing them into exciting new areas
Ākonga are assessed both Internally and Externally which means there is a possibility of a course endorsement.
They will do:
Standard 91256 - Apply coordinate geometry methods in solving problems (internal)
Standard 91259 - Apply trigonometric relationships in solving problems (internal)
Standard 91264 - Use statistical methods to make an inference (internal)
Standard 91261 - Apply algebraic methods in solving problems (external)
Standard 91579 - Apply calculus methods in solving problems (external)
In order to progress to Level 3 Calculus students will need to gain a minimum of 12 credits, 4 of which must be the Algebra external standard. Any 12 credits will gain entry to Level 3 Statistics.
Ākonga would benefit from having:
Level 2 Mathematics and Statistics Learning Workbook
Calculators, chromebooks, rulers, pens and an exercise book are all necessary items for this course.
