When does this course run: This Year 10 Physical Education course runs in either Semester 1 or 2 (ākonga can only choose one).
Year 10 The Moving Body course introduces students to the basics of exercise physiology and functional anatomy. How the body creates movement (through muscles, bones and actions). Students will learn how the heart & lungs respond to exercise. They will do the basics of a fitness training program, learning about the principles and methods of training.

Studying this course, gives a good foundation of knowledge for anyone with a passion for sport or an interest in fitness training.
Ākonga will build skills in the basics of exercise prescription and fitness training. Ākonga will also build and apply skills in critical thinking and collaboration.
The context for this learning will be a combination of sport & fitness. The specific sporting context will be determined by the interests of ākonga in each specific class.
This course is a good choice for ākonga who are interested in moving forward to study NCEA L1 Physical Education.
All course learning material will be provided in class. Students are required to come prepared with full PE gear.
