Ko tōu reo, ko tōku reo, te tuakiri tangata. Tīhei uriuri, tīhei nakonako.
Learning a new language provides a means of communicating with people from another culture and exploring one’s own personal world. Languages are inseparably linked to the social and cultural contexts in which they are used. Languages and cultures play a key role in developing our personal, group, national, and human identities. Every language has its own ways of expressing meanings; each has intrinsic value and special significance for its users.

Te Reo Māori is the key to understanding the Māori world. Te Reo Māori lays the foundation of communicative skills and cultural knowledge to enable students to be bilingual and bicultural with an appreciation and consideration of a Māori worldview.
When Ākonga build on their Te Reo Māori communication skills they support the vitality of the language to ensure it thrives.
Ākonga will learn and use the four language strands of tuhituhi (writing), pānui (reading), kōrero (speaking), and whakarongo (listening) in a variety of contexts. This will enable ākonga to express their thoughts in Te Reo Māori with increasing accuracy, fluency, cultural integrity and gain an understanding of language revitalisation.
Ākonga will learn and maintain Ngāti Raukawa tikanga and kawa.
Ākonga will learn in the contexts of:
Ngā Manu Kōrero,
Kapahaka,
Noho Marae,
Rā Haka,
