Dear BRMS Families:
Stick season has arrived at BRMS along with the rainy weather and cooler temperatures.
Our staff regularly take our students outside in all types of weather conditions. Please be sure to have your child prepared for the weather conditions. Please contact us if you need support with purchasing cold weather clothing for your child.
Our winter sports season is nearly here, and we are currently looking for a boys B team basketball coach for the 25/26 season. Contact Matt Lennon if you have any interest in coaching a team this season.
On Friday November 14, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., the Vermont Astronomical Society will be hosting a Star Party in our athletic fields. The VSA members will have telescopes available for viewing celestial objects in the night sky. The rain date will be on November 15th. We hope to see you there!
Have a great weekend!
Kevin

Chorus Fundraiser
Starting 3 years ago, the 8th graders began a tradition of picking and designing a new fun piece of chorus merchandise for chorus students to rock at school or at home. The 8th graders this year designed 2 items! Hoodies with a fun design on the back that are maroon colored and brown long sleeve t-shirts. The cost of these hoodies will be $33.00 and the long sleeves are $23.00 and be shipped directly to the school. A % of the proceeds go right back to the BRMS chorus department. The online store closes on November 6th.

MMUUSD has a district priority of supporting social and emotional mental health for all students. Here at BRMS, we will be offering a number of small discussion and support groups through the School Counseling Center for 5th and 6th graders. These groups will meet during school time (lunch or recess) 1x a week for 20 minutes ( approximately 1-2 months). They will be facilitated by Mr. Martin. Mr. Martin will review information and follow up with students individually who elected to join a specific group to move forward. Parents will be contacted and informed. Unfortunately, not all groups will be run.
What is BRAG? We are the Browns River Action Group, consisting of parents, staff, and teachers, working together to support and enrich all student life.
Keep an eye on the River Raider for BRMS BRAG events and announcements. Want to get involved? Contact us at brmsbrag@mmuusd.org
BRAG invites all 5th & 6th grader students to stay and hang with their friends on Friday, November 21 directly after school. Students wishing to participate must return the attached permission slip and $5 entry to the Main Office by the morning of 11/21. Parents are reminded that there will be no bus service home after this event, so please plan for a prompt pickup at 4:15pm. Please support this event by signing up to volunteer an hour of your time or contribute supplies for this event here.
BRAG also invites the community to join the upcoming Board Meeting on November 11. Come join the conversation and share your thoughts! Virtual access details will be made available the week prior in the River Raider, as well as the BRAG website.
Spirit wear update: The first round of orders is available in the Main Office starting today, October 31. Please send your student to collect your order. The online store will open up for new orders on Monday, November 3 and close again December 5. Many thanks for your support!
Stay up to date with BRAG news every week by following our updates here in the River Raider or on our website.

This year, we're turning a small roadblock into something big: a safe, unforgettable graduation celebration for the Class of 2026. Join us for "Closed Roads, Open Chances" — a community fundraiser and raffle supporting MMU's Project Grad. Every ticket purchased helps us give our seniors the send-off they deserve.
Click on the link to purchase a raffle ticket for $10. (Multiple entries are welcome!) With each entry, guess the date the Notch Road will close for the season, and add a time for tie-breaking purposes.
The winner (with the correct date and the closest time) will take home the full pot of $1000!
Thank you for supporting Project Grad!
