Dear BRMS Families,
It may be hard to believe but it is that time of year where our 8th grade students begin their transition to high school. The guidance counselors from MMU will be visiting our students in their classrooms on Monday to discuss what classes and schedules look like at the high school.
On Wednesday February 8th at 6:30 p.m., MMU will be hosting an informational meeting in the school auditorium for students and families. Current MMU students and staff will discuss their experiences at the high school and they will be available to answer any questions from families and students. Our students are both excited and a little nervous about the next steps in their academic journey. The high school staff does an amazing job supporting the transition to high school. Please contact us with any questions you may have about this transition.
Last night we hosted our 5/6 Winter Concert. The gym was packed with students and families and we estimate that over around 600 people attended this event. We are proud of the commitment and dedication our musicians have made to develop their musical skills.
Next week we will be hosting our 7/8 concert on Thursday January 26th at 7:00. We hope to see you in our gym for a wonderful evening of inspirational music.
In February, students in 6th through 8th grade will be participating in the statewide Youth Risk Behavior Survey. (YRBS). This survey helps to provide our school with important information in supporting our students with their social and emotional development. Our guidance counselors will be providing more specific information about the YRBS in the coming weeks. Be sure to keep an eye out for more information in future River Raiders.
Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the snow!
Kevin
