RIVER RAIDER

Dear BRMS Families

Browns River Middle School staff and parents will be hosting two after school social events for our students in the next month.   A 5/6th grade  party will be held on Friday November 17th from 2:45 until 4:15 and we will be hosting a 7/8th grade dance on Friday December 1 from 7-9:00 p.m.  These events are great opportunities for our students to build community and utilize social skills that we focus on developing during their middle school years.  Both events have a $5 donation for entry in order to help cover costs.

The 5/6 party will have a DJ, fast dancing, games and snacks for the students to enjoy.   Permission slips can be found here or in the main office.  All students must have adult permission to attend the event. Parent chaperones are needed for the party.  Please be sure to sign up in the BRAG section of the River Raider if you can help chaperone.  The event will end at 4:15 and families need to pick up their child at that time.   There are no late buses for this event.

The 7/8 dance will have a DJ for dancing and students will be able to hang out and socialize when not on the dance floor.  The dance is chaperoned by BRMS staff members.  This is for BRMS students only and does not require a permission form.  Students who do not attend school on the day of the event will not be allowed at the party or the dance.   Below you will find guidelines for the school dance.   Please be sure to go over them with your child before the event.

Have a great weekend.

Kevin

7th/8th Grade Dance Guidelines

The dances begin at 7:00pm and end at 9:00pm.  Students are responsible for arranging a ride home at 9:00pm.  The chaperones for the dance consist of administrators, faculty, and/or parents.  Any student who cannot or will not follow the  guidelines will be asked to leave and parents will be notified to come pick them up.

5/6 Fall Party!

Mark your calendars for Friday, November 17,  3:00 - 4:15pm.

What is the 5/6 Party?  An after-school event for 5th & 6th grade students.

There will be music, games and prizes in the cafeteria.  The gym will be open, and if the weather’s nice, we’ll open the doors for outdoor space too!

How do 5/6 students sign up? All it takes is $5.00 per student and this permission slip. Families needing financial support may contact kevin.hamilton@mmuusd.org.

What else do I need to know? We need volunteers!

Sign up HERE to provide a snack, help set up, run a game, etc.
