RIVER RAIDER

I would like to take a moment to recognize the work of two of our 8th grade students.  Several years ago BRMS students began participating in the Spectrum Sleep Out in solidarity with homeless young adults in Vermont.  Our students sleep outside for one night and raise money to keep Spectrum’s doors open for the next young adult looking for help. Samuel Rodriguez and Brooklyn Belfield took over the organization of this event from Greg Martin.  Sam and Brooklyn helped to coordinate 25 students in our school and they raised over $10,000 for this cause.   We are proud of their efforts and all they represent for BRMS!   Great job Sam and Brooklyn!

On Thursday evening our drama program presented two plays displaying our students' dramatic talents.  “Hoodie” was a hilarious production about the life and worries of middle school students.  The second production was an alternative take on Beauty and the Beast.  Congratulations to all of our thespians for all of their hard work and for their amazing performances.

Please remember that we will not have school on April 8th due to the eclipse and the anticipated influx of visitors to the state during this time.  We will be sending home viewing glasses with each of our students next week.

Have a great weekend!

Kevin

After School Expectations/Supervision

As the weather continues to get warmer we are seeing more of our students making after school plans that do not involve school supervised clubs.  Several students are taking the opportunity to play basketball on our outside court, walk over to the Jolly or the Jericho Market.   We do want to support our students as they become more independent but we are also concerned about the safety of our students while they are not supervised by our staff members.   Please be sure to have a conversation with your child about their after school plans.  Below you will find a list of expectations that we will be going over with our students this week.

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns about these expectations.

BRMS students can attend the concert for FREE !!
