Student and Staff Red vs. White game- a BRMS tradition
Dear BRMS Families,
It was a short week here at BRMS as we returned from our Winter Break. It was wonderful reconnecting with our students as they entered our doors on Wednesday morning. Spring is around the corner and we are looking forward to the warmer temperatures and longer days!
Today you received an email from the district regarding the end of COVID related restrictions for our school. As of March 14th, students will no longer be required to wear masks at school and we are allowed to return to all of our pre-pandemic routines. Over the next few weeks and months we will begin reintroducing our normal routines in many areas. Most of our students at BRMS have not experienced a normal middle school year and we want to make sure that they are prepared to take on additional independent responsibilities for the remainder of the year.
I know that this change is exciting for many people and concerning for others as we move forward. Over the next couple of weeks I will plan to wear my mask in support of students who may feel like they want to continue to wear their face coverings while in school as we adjust to this change. We will be having conversations with our students about how these changes will impact our community and how we need to be supportive of the choices of all families and students during this time of transition.
Our staff will be meeting next week to create a plan of support for our students and what traditions we can organize this spring. We will be looking to plan family gatherings, school wide events/celebrations, field trips, 5/6 parties and 7/8 dances. Additionally, we will be holding our student conferences in March. We will be providing both in person and virtual options for our families. We will be providing more information next week about conferences. Please feel free to contact me with any questions about the upcoming changes and have a wonderful weekend!
