Dear BRMS Families,
Despite staff shortages due to illness this week, we have had a great start to the school year. Our students have done an amazing job adjusting to the new faces that were in their classrooms this week. We are looking forward to having all of our staff back next week.
This week our students worked on school wide expectations and routines. Students were taught expectations for recess, lunch, end of day dismissal and fire drills. We will be holding our first fire drill next week and we will hold one of our safety drills later in the month. Additionally, we need family support around our schools cell phone expectations. Students’ cell phones should be put away during the school day. We ask that parents and guardians please help students with this expectation by not texting or calling students’ cell phones during school hours. Please contact the main office if you have an urgent need to speak to your child, and we will be happy to connect you. Below are some informational links regarding cell phones and their impact on middle school children.

Our fall sports teams will be participating in their first games of the season. Be sure to check out the BRMS Athletic Link for locations and times. We hope to see you out on the field to support the Raiders!
We are still in the midst of finalizing an open house date for BRMS. Stay tuned!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend. The weather looks great!

Hello BRMS Families,
We hope everyone is off to a great start to their school year! One of the many ways we support mental health in our school community is by acknowledging that September is National Suicide Prevention Month. All month, mental health advocates, prevention organizations, survivors, allies, and community members unite to promote suicide prevention month.
You know your child(ren) best. When something seems off, check in! Research shows people who are having thoughts of suicide (and/or struggling with mental and emotional health) feel relief when someone asks after them in a caring way.
An area we will place an emphasis on with our students is regularly talking about mental health (which reduces stigma), identifying characteristics of what healthy relationships look and feel like as well as identifying trusted adults whom they can go to for support; whether that be at home, in school, or ideally both.
Below are a couple of national and local resources and as always, your BRMS School Counselors are here to help and offer support!

Hello 5th Graders! Have you ever considered playing Field Hockey?! This year would be a great year to give it a try!
We will be offering a Club Field Hockey Team this year on Mondays and Fridays from 3-4. All levels are welcome! We have 4 coaches available to teach you the sport. Browns River has both an A and B team on which to participate for students who are in 6th-8th grade.
All that you need to participate is a field hockey stick (measured to the top of your hip bone), a pair of shin guards, a mouth guard, a water bottle and a pair of good sneakers or cleats.
*Please ask if you would like to borrow a field hockey stick as we have some to lend out for the season.
Club field hockey will be offered September 9th-October 14th.
Sign ups will be posted outside of the gymnasium doors!
Please register your fifth grader at the link below with appropriate paperwork signed.
