Dear BRMS Families,
It was an interesting week of weather at BRMS! Monday started with snow on the ground and the end of week brought us 70 degree temperatures. As a school we are committed to having our students enjoying the outside environment no matter the weather. Please make sure that your child has the proper gear to be outside throughout the school year. If your family needs some support in getting cold weather clothing please reach out to our guidance counselors, Jenn Wisniowski or Greg Martin.
I want to remind all of our families that we do not have school on Tuesday, Nov 5 and we have our monthly early release day on Wednesday the 6th. All students will be dismissed at 12:40 on the 6th.
Families should mark their calendars for our Fall Drama production that will be on Thursday November 14th at 6:30 p.m. Berta Frank and Laurie Forsman are directing our students in the ensemble play “A Recipe of Me”. We hope to see you at BRMS on the 14th!
Have a great weekend and don’t forget to set your clocks back an hour on Sunday morning.
Kevin
A Recipe of Me by Kate Kilpatrick is an incredible ensemble play with authentic middle school characters for middle school students. We see people all the time but don’t always know their stories. A Recipe of Me is great for social-emotional learning and understanding others.
Leah and her siblings are relegated to the kids table in the kitchen AGAIN for Thanksgiving at Grandma Lucy and Grandpa Elliott’s house. Worse, they’ve had their phones taken away. This leads to the siblings searching the cupboards for snacks. What they come away with is Grandma Lucy’s secret family recipe box.
They think they’re going to find juicy gossip. Instead, they find heartfelt stories about their family told through recipes. Stories they never knew.
A beautiful look into the world of a family rooted in love and food. Food is the language that everyone can speak.
This play was written specifically for middle school performers and won top honors at both the Florida Jr. Thespians District and State levels.
SAVE THE DATE:
