Dear BRMS Families,
During the month of November our NEST groups focused on the subject of gratitude. Each Wednesday throughout the month students were given tasks focused on the positive aspects of their daily lives both here at BRMS and at home. Each week the students used their information to help create a portion of the front bulletin board near the main office. (See Picture below). BRMS art teacher, Frannie Willard, and Special Education teacher, Erin Farrell, were the inspiration behind this creative project that resulted in a beautiful hallway display that helped our community focus on all of the positive aspects of lives. Please feel free to check out our board of gratitude if you are in our building in the coming weeks.
In coordination with our gratitude project our students were also focused on supporting those in our community who access our local food shelf. Bryant Pless led the charge in the Mullet Mania food challenge and our students did an amazing job bringing in donations of diapers and food throughout the week. The Mullet Mothers and Team Summit won the “Golden Mullet” award for bringing in the most supplies for our community. We concluded our food collection challenge with a Mullet Parade throughout the hallways on Thursday morning. We are proud of our students' efforts and thank you to everyone who donated items to the BRMS food/diaper drive.
Have a wonderful break and we look forward to seeing you in December!
Kevin

With Black Friday fast approaching, we encourage you to spend time thinking about the digital choices you make for your family. While there’s so much in the world that we can’t have a big impact on, this is something that is actionable and can really help our kids!
Last month, ReConnect hosted its first Community Forum on Kids, Smartphones & Social Media, and about 100 folks (adults and kids) came to the forum! Thanks to all who joined and contributed to this meaningful event! There’s momentum both globally and locally about this issue and we want you to know why!!
If you missed the forum and are curious to learn more about this topic, we recommend this talk given by author Catherine Price to her children’s school community. It gives a good summary of why this issue is so relevant for our kids' mental health and safety.
Watch Catherine’s video, consider smartphone alternatives (see our flier below) this holiday season or strike up a conversation with a friend who was at the forum. Reach us at reconnectvt@gmail.com with questions, for more information, or to join our email list and receive updates and ways to get involved.
ReConnect is a growing group of families from the MMUSD working to build community around the impacts of smartphones and social media on our kids. We look forward to connecting with you!

Dear Parent(s) & Guardian(s),
As we head into the upcoming holidays and winter season, we want to make you aware that we are fortunate to have some scholarships to the Bolton Ski Program, gift cards, winter jackets, bookbags, etc. to help support our students and families in need of a little extra help. Please consider reaching out to Jenn or myself, confidentially, to inquire about any of the above.
We also want to thank the generosity of the BRMS Staff and the local communities of Jericho and Underhill for their thoughtful donations and support of others!
Be well -
