Dear BRMS Families:
It looks like we have a weekend of wonderful November weather ahead of us over the next couple of days. Be sure to get outside and enjoy the warm temperatures and remember to set your clocks back an hour on Sunday! Also, a reminder that Wednesday November 9th is our monthly early release day for students.
This week, on Wednesday Nov 2nd, we celebrated the return of live, in-person music festivals with the BRMS String students. Thirty string players from grades 6 - 8 represented BRMS at the District I String Festival in St Albans and performed together on the stage at BFA. There were over 100 student musicians in grades 5 - 12 on stage at the same time for the concert finale. There is plenty to celebrate as we resume these exciting community events that serve to motivate and connect young musicians to play/perform music together from across the counties of Vermont.
BRMS will be hosting a 5/6 party on Friday, November 18th from 3:00-4:30 p.m. All 5th and 6th grade students are welcome to attend and there is a $5.00 admission fee for snacks and drinks. Permission forms will be sent out later next week. Please let us know if financial support is needed for your child to attend this event. There will be a DJ for dancing (no slow dances), indoor/outdoor games and plenty of other activities. All school rules are in place during the event and students are released at 4:30 for family pickup. This event is organized and sponsored by BRAG. Parent volunteers will be needed as chaperones and a sign up sheet will be sent out next week.
We hope you have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the extra hour of sleep!
Kevin
7th and 8th Grade Dance, Friday November 11th
The dance begins at 7:00pm and ends at 9:00pm. Students are responsible for arranging a ride home at 9:00pm. The chaperones for the dance consist of administrators, faculty, and/or parents. Any student who cannot or will not follow the guidelines will be asked to leave and parents will be notified to come pick them up.
All BRMS school rules are in effect at school dances.
Students are to remain in the designated area from the time of arrival until the end of the dance. Students must have written parental permission to leave the dance early or be picked up at the door.
Only BRMS seventh and eighth graders may attend school dances.
No students will be admitted into the dance after 8:00pm except those accompanied by a parent.
Dance styles deemed unacceptable by chaperones for reasons of safety will not be permitted.
Students who did not attend school on the day of the dance are not allowed to attend.
Dance held in the lunchroom.
Dear BRMS Families,
As the weather outside gets cooler and darker, our healthy habits and routines sometimes adjust and change. For some, exercise and healthy eating declines while screen time increases. In 7th grade Guidance classes, we are currently talking about healthy screen time, balance, and the advantages and disadvantages of communicating on a screen.
We want remind folks that *you are role models for screen-time health and balance. Pay attention to your own habits— they are watching and learning from you. Check out the following article for some simple wisdom on this…
