RIVER RAIDER

Dear BRMS Families:

Winter has reappeared at BRMS this week but we are hopeful spring is going to arrive soon!  Students are enjoying the late snowfall but we are ready to have dry fields and warmer temperatures during our recess times.

The second trimester report cards will be mailed home to families on Monday March 20th.   Teachers are also scheduling spring conferences with families over the next couple of weeks.    Please remember that report cards are only one method in which we measure a student’s academic success.   We hope that families will use the report card to have meaningful conversations about the successes and areas of growth for their child.   Be sure to reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any questions or have not received a report card by the end of the week.

The BRMS spring production of “The Ever After” will be happening on Friday, March 31st at 7:00.   Laurie Forsman and her drama club have been working extremely hard over the last couple of months on the production of this play.   Be sure to come out and support our thespians at the end of the month!

Have a great weekend!

Kevin

Counseling Connections

Each year, families, companies, and students join the Spectrum Sleep Out in solidarity with homeless young adults in Vermont. These courageous individuals sleep outside for one night-Thursday March 23rd- and raise money to keep Spectrum’s doors open for the next young adult looking for help. This year our team, the BRMS Rock Stars, has a goal of raising $20,000 (or more!) to provide homeless and at-risk youth the services they need to build future success and independence.

*Please note that the 2023 BRMS Sleepout will be happening from individuals' homes this year-with a live check in! We will not be gathering as a larger group and sleeping at school, however, stay tuned for potential events and gatherings the week of!

Clubs

A Note From the Volleyball Club:

Volleyball Families,

My name is Coach Andy Beeman, the coach for the Club Volleyball Team. We have lower numbers than expected on the club team this year which offers us the opportunity to open our practices up to any of the B team players who would like to join us for some extra court time. The club team has the gym from 6:00pm to 7:00pm on Mondays and Wednesdays. I am happy to work with any of the players on fundamentals during that time – just show up when you can.

I realize that volleyball is already a big time commitment for families, so I want to emphasize that there is no obligation to attend these sessions for B team players. This is just an extra opportunity for those who want to join us and can make it during our practice times.

Thanks,

Coach Andy B

Community News

Pack 620 Bear Scouts are running a clothing drive to collect warm clothes for Winooski public school students. Winooski public school provides children, ages 5 to 18, with various necessities such as winter clothing. This school district has a high population of refugees who may be unprepared for our cold climate. They need mittens, coats and sweaters/sweatshirts. We will be collecting clothing through March 30th.  A clothing donation box will be placed at BRMS.

Pack 620 Bear scouts thank you for your support!
