RIVER RAIDER

Dear BRMS Families:

It is hard to believe that we are heading into our final full week of school!  We wrapped up our spring sports season in the rain on Wednesday afternoon.  Congratulations to all our athletes who participated in ultimate frisbee, track and field, baseball and softball this season.  Our musicians concluded their year with a performance at the Burlington Jazz Festival. Bravo to the BRMS Jazz Band!  Here is a link to their amazing performance.  Enjoy!

We have several field trips and school wide activities planned for next week.  Please be sure to check for communications from Teams about upcoming events so that your child is prepared for the activities planned for the end of the year.  On Wednesday our NEST groups will be participating in the inaugural BRMS Grand Prix!   Each NEST has designed a hood ornament for their cars that will be raced around the back parking lot.

8th grade students will be traveling to the Great Escape in New York on Friday, June 16th and they will be going on the Spirit of Ethan Allen on Monday June 19th.  Recognition Night is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on June 19th as well.  We are planning to hold the event outside on our athletic fields.  Families are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets for seating.  In the event of rain we will be holding our event in the gymnasium.   A final decision on the location will be made Friday June 16th.

Have a great weekend.

Kevin

Track is Back!

Mt. Mansfield Summer Track and XC Program.

Get On Track in 2023!!!!

Mt. Mansfield Summer Track is back for our 29th year.  The program will run from Wednesday, June 21 through Wednesday, July 19.   Practices/Meets are Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 5:30 to 6:30 (meets will run longer) at the Mt. Mansfield High School Track.  We usually host 1-2 meets and travel to 1-2 meets against other rec. programs in Chittenden County.  The weekday meets are low-key, just show up and run the evawents you want.  The youngest age group includes all children who turn five years old during 2023, the oldest age group includes all athletes up to those who will turn 15 in 2023.  Practices and meets are run in age groups - 5-6 years, 7-8 years, 9-10 years, 11-12 years, and 13-15 years.

We stress participation, sportsmanship, and having fun.  All athletes will be introduced to basic track and field techniques and proper running form.  Athletes are encouraged to try all the different events and find out which they like best.  All are welcome and we especially need seventh and eighth graders, it’s an excellent way to find out about track before you get to the high school.  This program is designed to introduce new athletes to the sport as well as challenge experienced athletes.

MMCTV Middle School TV Camp will be held July 10-14 in Richmond. This year’s challenge is remaking a scene from the Disney film “Toy Story” as a part of the statewide Crowdsourced Cinema VT.
