Dear BRMS Families,
We will be holding our first 7/8th grade dance tonight from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Below you will find the school expectations for the event. Our goal is to hold a fun and healthy social event for all of our students. We ask that you go over these expectations with your child before they arrive at the dance. Cell phones will not be allowed during the dances this year. Please note that we do not allow students to leave early with other families unless we have written permission from the guardian of a child. We take the safety of our students seriously and appreciate your understanding of this rule. There is a $5 admission fee for the dance. A concession table will be available for students to purchase snacks. All proceeds from the dance will help offset costs for the 8th grade field trip to the Great Escape at the end of the year. The dance will end promptly at 9:00. Please be sure to drive slowly as you depart the parking lot as there will be many students exiting the building at that time.
Our 5/6 party will be happening on November 18th from 2:45-4:30. BRAG will be organizing this event and will be looking for family volunteers to help run the event. Please see the link in this week’s BRAG section of the River Raider. We need enough volunteers to safely run the event. Please be sure to volunteer your time if you are available on the 11th!

Dear BRMS Families,
While many students felt the excitement of Halloween last week, in 5th/6th grade Guidance class we acknowledged, discussed and explored how every family’s culture is different, some families choose to not celebrate a certain holiday- and that is what makes us all awesome and unique!
In 5th/6th grade Guidance class we explored Celebrations Around the World! As a group we viewed a short film showcasing different parts of the world and learned about how all families' cultures are different.
The students worked in small groups to match a region with a celebration and a description. The excitement was high as well as the interest in widening our cultural lens. Learning about multi-cultural differences strengthens not only our knowledge but our tolerance and acceptance of others differences.
