Fall is a magical & eventful season that has much to offer, and we are officially about 2 months into it! Even though autumn isn’t quite over yet, you and I both know that holiday festivities are already starting just as you are reading this. In this feature we will be recapping a little bit of last month and all the events and activities we can look forward to, so let’s get into it!
Earlier this season the final trailer for the upcoming movie Wicked: For Good (comes out in theaters November 22) came out along with the final trailers for Zootopia 2 (comes out in theaters November 26) and Avatar: Fire and Ash (comes out in theaters December 19) giving us a few long awaited movie series additions to enjoy in theaters later this season.
Now, let’s do a quick review of October and early November! Starbucks started November on a bittersweet note by replacing the beloved pumpkin spice with the perhaps even more beloved winter menu! With the resurrection of this menu, Starbucks released a brand new Hello Kitty merchandise line with some of the cutest Starbucks x Hello Kitty cups and more! This Starbucks menu includes Peppermint Mocha, Caramel Brulée Latte, Iced Sugar Cookie Latte, Eggnog Latte, Chestnut Praline Latte, and Iced Gingerbread Chai (my personal favorite)! These new drinks are the perfect festive treats to enjoy over the holiday season!
Earlier this season, many community members and people around the world celebrated Diwali (a Hindu light festival), Filipino Heritage Month, Veteran’s Day, and Halloween (check out the Fall Cultural Events article for more information on some of these holidays.) During Halloween, the Lakeside community had lots of fun with creative costumes presented by the 7th-grade Drama class at the Lakeside Halloween assembly. If we go way back to September - before Halloween –when SEA-TAC intercepted over 500,000 dollars worth of fake labubus - better known as “lafufus,” from South Korea, then go further back to April 2024 when the labubu craze started, you will find why tens of millions of people of all ages have at least one. The fiendish to some - cute to others - keychain is owned by POPMART and started becoming popular when K-Pop star Lisa from BLACKPINK was shown showcasing them. People have spent 6 or 7 thousands of dollars on these dolls and have even dressed up as them for Halloween. Between labubus, Starbucks, Halloween, and new movies, there is a lot in stock for the rest of this season, so stay golden!
