This painting is called Wheat Field with Crows by Vincent Van Gogh. It was painted in 1890 and is one of the last paintings that he created. This piece shows a path through a wheat field that is abruptly cut off near the end. Crows fly over the field and darken the sky, while the moon shines above.
Towards the end of Van Gogh’s life, he started painting more wheat fields. He also painted on double canvases (two 50 cm by 100 cm canvases). I chose Wheat Field With Crows, because I wanted to represent one of Van Gogh’s last paintings, as well as something that I liked looking at. The way that the art is painted makes the piece seem textured, and the brushstrokes are bold and dramatic.
Van Gogh’s talent was with him until the end of his life, and left a lasting impact on art.
