In the last NBA season, the Golden State Warriors beat the Boston Celtics in six games in the finals to win the franchise’s fourth championship since 2015. This season, on October 18, the Warriors beat the Los Angeles Lakers, 123-109.
Why was the game important? Well, shortly before the game, the Warriors finally got their championship rings from NBA Commissioner Adam Silver. Following tradition, the jewelry was intricately made for the Warriors. Each ring has 16 carats of yellow and white diamonds set in gold, representing the team’s 16 wins in the playoffs last season. Seven carats of yellow diamonds, cushion cut, represent the team’s seven overall championships won. 43 small rectangular-cut diamonds, called baguettes, represent the star player Steph Curry’s 43 points in Game 4 of the finals. Each ring has a secret compartment accessible via a lever that contains trophies for each individual player: Four for Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson and Andre Iguodala; three for Kevon Looney; and one for everyone else.
The Warriors ring is unique. It is the first ring ever that is mostly made up of yellow diamonds. It has the Warriors unique mantra on it, “Just Us.” The rings are absolutely beautiful, but come at a hefty price of $50,000-$150,000.
The Warriors got their rings. After all their hard work, they finally got their reward. Let’s see if they can get another ring this year.
