On October 20, 2022, British Prime Minister Liz Truss resigned after only 44 days in office–the shortest term a prime minister has ever served in the UK. Following the collapse of the UK’s economy, Truss resigned after several attempts with her novel economic policies failed miserably. The British economy is suffering after Truss’s term and Brexit, the withdrawal of the UK from the European Union. On October 25, Rishi Sunak took over as Prime Minister, becoming the first British Asian to hold the post.
