Let’s admit it: whether you’re a full fledged Swiftie or a complete Taylor hater, you have to have heard about Taylor Swift’s most recent album’s release, The Tortured Poets Department. Since the reveal of this album (with a whopping 31 songs!), she has had the entire pop culture community anticipating her next release.
So, what do we know about Taylor’s next record? Thankfully, Lakeside has a huge collection of Swifties with speculations.
Some fans think that she might re-make her hit album Reputation, as she has with previous albums 1989, Red, Speak Now, and Fearless. Swifties all across the world have been looking into “easter eggs,” or the little hints she leaves in public or in her music videos. Swifties picked up on Taylor’s recent release of the track “thanK you aIMee,” in which capital letters spelled KIM, a reference to Kanye West’s ex-wife Kim Kardashian. Kim and Kanye both often dissed Taylor years ago.
Swift and West are known for bad blood, beginning when Kanye stole the mic during Taylor’s VMA speech in 2009, stating that Beyonce should have won the award, not Taylor. Fast forward about eight years to Taylor’s hit track “Look What You Made Me Do,” on Reputation, which may be about the uproar after this event. “thanK you aIMee” made Swifties wonder: was this another easter egg? Would Reputation (Taylor’s Version) become a reality? Or were we all reading too much into what was right in front of us?
On the other hand, some Swifties are speculating that she will release an album entitled Sagittarius, as a tribute to her zodiac sign. Many theorize that she will announce it on December 8, at the last show on The Eras Tour, which happens to fall right in the middle of the Sagittarius dates! Some of her outfits, such as knitted dresses and checkered pattern clothing, point towards 70’s pop, a sound the artist has never tried before, and could bring in even more people from a wider range of ages, giving her yet another trick up her sleeve.
To summarize, Taylor Swift has no limits. Nobody really can know what’s next on Taylor’s agenda, but that doesn’t mean we can’t hope! If full-grown men can theorize about the winner of the Super Bowl, why can’t teenage girls speculate about Taylor Swift? Some may argue that these men have real statistics, whereas we’re just kids with dreams, but in the words of Swift, “Sometimes there is no proof, you just know.”
