Will AI Take Over the World?

Recently, AI has been taking over! From AI-created squishy purple robots to AI-powered traffic lights, AI is all over the place. However, lots of people are skeptical and believe that AI will take full control and overpower humans. Will this vision actually be the future?

What is AI in the first place? Artificial intelligence, commonly known as AI, is a machine that can think on its own and interact with humans and respond to prompts almost like a real person. Lots of websites like ChatGPT, Bing AI, or OpenAI Playground can do anything from answering a simple question like “what is nine times twelve” to writing entire essays from a simple prompt. This brings up the concern that AI will replace humans someday in the near future.

When asked if AI will take over someday, Elon Musk’s response was:

“There is some chance that is above zero that AI will kill us all.” Which is pretty scary to think about. However, there are still multiple roles and jobs that AI can't replace, like counselors/therapists, authors, artists, designers and many more. Even though artificial intelligence can make images, those images come from a ton of human-made pictures across the internet, which is like a big soup: The most important ingredient is the human-made images, so artists won't be replaced. Plus, AI can't even generate images with hands! Its images look either like a demon's hands or just straight-up chaos with too many fingers, random lines and creases. 

Also, therapists and counselors won't be replaced because AI can't comfort people as well as a human could. For example, you can't hug an AI like you can an actual person, and ChatGPT can't relate to you about problems, challenges, and issues in life. Authors won't be replaced, as AI will not be able to write stories that with the capacity of emotion and humor as a human writer Has a book ever made you cry, made you so happy, or sucked you into the storyline so much that you feel like you're part of that universe and the outside world doesn't exist? Books generated by AI can't do that since AI can't feel those feelings. Therefore, some types of authors and literature writers will not be replaced.  

Returning to our headline question, will AI take over the world? No, I do not think that AI will take over.
