The NHL season is approaching its end, but interestingly, new jerseys have entered the league. In this article, I will be ranking the jerseys of the teams in the Western Conference from worst to best.
This year featured a few totally new looks. The Anaheim Ducks and the Los Angeles Kings have decided to pay tribute to their heritage with new jerseys and logos. The Ducks changed their home jerseys to a bright and vibrant color while the Kings put up flashy silver and a vintage black. Both teams have also traded in their modern logos for their alternate symbols.
In addition, the 24-25 season included the rebranding of the Arizona Coyotes to the Utah Hockey Club. Their uniforms featured the image of a mountain with vibrant blues, blacks, and whites. Their logo featured a circle with the words “Utah” in the middle circled by “Hockey” and “Club.” Here are my rankings!
16. Nashville Predators (Last Place): Their uniform has an older look, and the yellow is a little too dark. They have also had the same jersey concept for 13 years, so it gets a little boring for me.
15. Utah Hockey Club
This is my least favorite jersey overall because it is really simple with just the words “Utah” across it. However, I cut them some slack because it is their first season since rebranding.
This jersey has been around for a while, and its design is fairly similar in the home and away jerseys. While the jersey has a lot of history, they should change the design to make it a little more eye-catching.
12. Edmonton Oilers:
The Oilers have a nice concept and their logo is very eye-catching with the bright oranges and blues and the famous logo, but the socks and shorts are a bit repetitive as they have been in previous years.
11. Seattle Kraken: I’m sorry to say it, but the Seattle team's jerseys will not be in the top 10. While their colors are good, I would like to see a little more emphasis on the alternate logo and the red seems a little out of place.
9. Anaheim Ducks: The Ducks brought back their old logo, and it changed the entire trajectory of the jersey. NHL.com said that the Ducks brought back orange as their main color to signify living in Orange County, and I’m impressed by their creativity.
7. Calgary Flames: The Flames have done a really excellent job on their jerseys. The bright crimson and yellow on the home jersey are a perfect combo, and I love how they put their fearsome secondary logo on their alternate jersey. The away kit also has a nice touch with red and gold.
6. Winnipeg Jets: With deep blues and flashy red and white, the Jets have lovely jerseys. While the concept is simple, the colors complement each other and the logo to make a perfect jersey.
5. Minnesota Wild: Minnesota’s jerseys are like the team name: wild. The array of colors in the home and away sweaters are fun and stand out. However, they have my personal favorite alternate jersey in the league in a lime green with lemon yellow and bright white highlights.
4. Vancouver Canucks: Vancouver’s alternate logo is a “flying skate” that represents their passion for hockey. The green and blue match the colors of the Pacific Northwest.
1. San Jose Sharks: The San Jose Sharks have my personal favorite NHL kit. Their home jersey is a nice teal that represents the waters around the Bay Area, and the away kit carries the same theme. However, the alternate kit is amazing with the alternate logo shining its way through the teal, white, and black.
