Remember the familiar game full of limitless blocks, daunting bosses, and, well, just peace? You’re probably thinking about Minecraft. All those times you had with your friends, having fun on multiplayer servers, or just relaxing by yourself, challenging the endless world of pure blocks. All those restless nights, hiding from dangerous mobs until the blocky, pixelated sky turned orange with a sign of hope. All these memories of tests of will, endurance, and friendship now come flooding back for one reason: Minecraft is the best game in the world.
One of the ways Minecraft outshines other games is creativity. Minecraft is a sandbox game with nearly no restrictions or limits. Unlike other games, where you have to go through a special sequence, Minecraft is an open terrain where anything is possible. In Minecraft, you can build the biggest bases you desire, from massive skyscrapers to cozy hobbit homes, or you can simply roam around the unrestricted world of blocks. There are infinite possibilities in Minecraft. Blogger and educator John Spencer says that “I love the idea of a game built around world building - where the game is less about programmed levels and more about an open, flexible design that allows the participants to create in an immersive environment.”
Minecraft’s calming environment also reduces or even relieves stress. Unlike games that revolve around violence, where you constantly have to stare at your screen to look for enemies that suddenly pop out, Minecraft is a game where you just relax and chill, unless there are creepers around. Just think about building your base or mining ores while listening to the ambient, relaxing soundtrack. (Trust me, you should listen to it.)
On the flip side, if you’re a hardcore gamer, Minecraft is also perfect for you. There is a perfect balance between competitiveness and friendliness in the larger Minecraft community. You can easily find Minecraft combat tutorials everywhere, especially on YouTube! Minecraft has a safe and embracing community and few to no hackers, which makes it a competitive haven. Unlike other games, Minecraft is easy to learn and it’s easy to find and join competitions. These competitions can be PVP (player versus player fighting), parkour, etc. Sometimes there can be prizes!
Minecraft also has a nostalgia factor. Every time when you hear the game soundtrack, do you feel the pure joy of finally getting to hop on the game after a long school day? Do you feel the glee of finally finishing your mansion built out of diamond blocks in creative mode? That’s what I feel. Another thing that contributes to Minecraft’s nostalgia is YouTube. Extremely famous YouTubers like Technoblade (may he rest in peace), DanTDM, Stampy, and others most likely shaped a part of every Minecrafter’s childhood. These YouTubers and memories give Minecraft its nostalgia.
In conclusion, Minecraft is simply the best game in the world. Its open world provides a stream of creativity for different minds to thrive in. It not only has a perfect environment for kids to learn and interact, but it also has a nostalgic factor to it. With its boundless world, safe and thriving community, and educational factor, Minecraft has become a beloved game for all ages.
