It is hard for me to get to my locker between classes, and if I carry everything, it's too heavy. HELP PLEASE!
Yours, Holden H.
I agree! I think my back is prematurely aged from the years of backpack lugging it’s had to do. I think this is a common problem among a lot of students, so here’s some tips that might be helpful:
Try to keep unnecessary items in a separate place. For example, if you do orchestra or band, leave your instrument in the music room or your advisory space to avoid carrying them the whole day.
When packing your backpack, make sure you put heavier things near your back, like your laptop and binder. This distributes the total weight more evenly and can make it easier to carry your backpack if your locker is too far.
Have you ever tried carrying your backpack with the pack in front? It’s fun and really useful if you bump into the wall :)
How do I address racism towards my friends and myself?
6th Grader
I know racism is still an issue in our community, even if it’s unintentional. Unfortunately, when coming from people you know, it can be really hard to deal with. When this happens again, one way to address it is to ask your friends to stop making those kinds of comments in an assertive but respectful way. Try speaking with them in a private space to “call in” instead of “calling out,” which can be helpful in decreasing external complications and creating a more safe atmosphere. Then, explain to your friends why what they were saying was harmful, even if they didn’t realize it. Hopefully this helps—thank you for your question!
Why am I hungry after I just ate lunch!?? 😭
Oh my goodness - I think you might be the little voice in my head that I start hearing in the middle of English. This is one of the biggest problems facing Lakeside students, but unfortunately, there is no known cure to this horrible ordeal. Here’s one strategy that sometimes works- but I can’t guarantee it will:
Eat more. Run less.
