Tottenham is a Premier League (the top English soccer league) team that is historically middle of the tables, unlike their rivals Arsenal.
After a 2-0 win against Fulham FC on October 23rd, the Spurs were #1 in the Premier League. With a goal from Son Heung-Min in the 36th minute and another one from Maddison in the 54th, Tottenham was ahead of Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool. They must have felt great.
After the game their new manager, Ange Postecoglou, said in an interview, “The biggest motivation for me was taking over a big club that hadn’t had success. They’re just the kind of challenges I love and it’s pretty regular in my story – taking over a club that has had a disappointing year and is craving success.” Unfortunately their luck ended there.
Then they played Chelsea on November 6th and lost horribly, 4-1. This was only the start of their current 3 game losing streak, likely due to the loss of some key players such as James Maddison and Micky Van de Ven.
Even after their losses, though, things could still turn around for them because the Premier League is far from over. In fact there is until May for things to turn around, and things could either turn for the worse or better because if they start winning then they could make the top of the table. If they didn't, though, they could get demoted to worse leagues.
In other soccer news this is the time when the Champions League is going on and on top of the league is Manchester City in Group G. The Champions League is the big European club league where all the teams compete.
