One day when I was at a zoo, I saw a monkey, and that monkey looked at me intensely. Am I wrong to think that monkey was attracted to me?
I… am at a loss for words. Maybe it thought you were one too?
I can’t stop going to bed late and never have enough energy in classes. Help! ~Sleepless
Dear Sleepless,
That can be a really hard situation! I also have this problem sometimes. Here are my suggestions for getting your full 8 hours (who does, really?) and waking up ready to start the day (again, who?).
Set a consistent sleep schedule. If you go to bed at 10 one night then 2 the next, your body has trouble adjusting to the constant change. Try to sleep and wake up at around the same time every day.
You should have a morning and night routine. Eat enough, close your screens at least an hour before bed, and do something relaxing! Journal, read, eat more… the list is endless!
Prioritize! Your health and wellbeing is more important than anything else. Even if you have a super important project due the next day, you should let your teachers know that you couldn’t finish it. They’ll understand, I promise. Also, you’re much more capable of producing good work when you’re fully rested.
Even though last-minute situations happen every once in a while, it’s still best to be conscious of your time management. Use your free periods or study halls to finish any work you might have if you know you’ll have a late night otherwise.
If all else fails, falling asleep in class once in a while is okay if you don’t snore. And everyone knows that a free period is just another name for nap time.
I hope this helps!
