My Neighbor Totoro
(IMDb.com/selected by Annapoorani L.)
During summer vacation, many of us might be wondering what to watch. For this issue, I have polled students to see what their all-time favorite movies were.
Oliver T. responded that one of his favorites is The Wandering Earth. He rates this movie 5/5, and summarizes it as ”[h]umans build massive engines on the side of the Earth to propel the planet, the place that they've called home for millenia, to a new solar system, as the sun is quickly burning out. Embark on a journey of humanity, love, tears, science, and sacrifice, with the characters of the Wandering Earth.”
Timothy D. wrote that “one of [his] all time favorite movies” is Castle in the Sky. He rated this movie 5/5, and summed it up as, “Uhhhhhhhhhh a girl fell from the sky they found a [weapon of mass destruction] the earth almost died there is a fight and it ends [literally] i don[‘]t [remember].” Timothy highly recommends this fantasy film.
An anonymous person suggested Back to the Future, which they rated 4/5. They categorized this movie as adventure, comedy, and science fiction. This person’s brief summary of the movie was, “Marty McFly accidentally travel[s] back in time to 1955, and has to save his family after his mother unknowingly falls in love with him.”
Finally, I would recommend My Neighbor Totoro. This is about two sisters moving into their new and enchanted home. The movie is a good one if you want to watch something with a younger sibling, because it is not as intense as other movies from Studio Ghibli. I would definitely rate this fantasy movie 5/5.
Thank you so much to the people who took time out of their day to fill out the movie poll, and I hope everyone will be a little less bored over the summer.
