The pupils learned about the Fiji rugby sevens team, led by their captain Osea Kolinisau. Osea grew up in challenging circumstances, balancing his passion for rugby with the responsibility of supporting his family. Despite these obstacles, he became a role model for his teammates by always being the first to train, supporting others, and setting the highest expectations for effort and attitude. His leadership inspired Fiji to their first-ever Olympic gold medal at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro – a moment of national pride and proof that aiming high can achieve incredible results. He also achieved this in the aftermath of Cyclone Winston, which had devastated the islands just prior to the tournament.
Through this story, the pupils reflected on what it means to be the best version of themselves, and how they too can inspire and encourage others through kindness, perseverance, and teamwork. These values sit at the heart of our Learner Profile, helping us to shape confident, resilient, and compassionate learners.
Alongside this, I would like to share that in the coming weeks, our Primary Leadership Group will be hosting meetings with all new pupils. These meetings are designed as an opportunity to check in with our newest members of the Doha College community, ensuring that they are settling in happily and feel well supported in their learning and wellbeing.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. Together, let us all keep aiming high and inspiring others.
