Distinctive Collections will drop off unbound paper copies of theses and dissertations in envelopes when available.
Physical processing of the paper (unbound) copy
a. Place the barcode on the last page of the thesis/dissertation (inside envelope).
b. Write the barcode on the upper middle of the front page that is affixed to the outside of the envelope.
c. Write the author's full name on the upper left side of the front page as follows: "Last, First, MI".
d. Write the call number on the upper right side of the front page.
d. After cataloging, return paper copy in envelope to Distinctive Collections.
Cataloging the thesis/dissertation in Alma
1. Call up the record in Metadata Editor (ME) and save
2. Create Holdings record - USE TEMPLATES
a. For Special Collections (uscarc)
3. Create item records for each:
a. click on the item icon (5th button)
b. add barcode
c. add material type - "Thesis"
d. Enter "unbound" in "Internal note 1" field on Notes tab of item record
4. Create Portfolio (electronic resource)
a. click on portfolio icon (last button to right)
b. Portfolio type
1. Select part of an electronic collection
a. Click on magnifying glass and type URI Thesis in the content box.
2. Click on radio button next to the "URI Theses and Dissertations" collection (1st one)
3. Click Select on bottom right.
c. Go to URL and paste or type in the url to the digital commons link for that work. - static
d. Click save
5. Release all records from Metadata Editor
