Uploading OAP Articles to DigitalCommons@URI
For the Open Access Policy only: Once you have an author manuscript ready to upload, first double check that the author filled out an Author Assistance Form, and that the AAF has been filed. Double check that we do not already have the article in DigitalCommons@URI. Also double check that the author did not request a waiver, especially if the manuscript came from another site like SSRN or ArXiv.
Log in to DigitalCommons@URI.
Locate the author's departmental faculty publications series in DigitalCommons@URI, and click on "Manage Submissions" from the drop-down menu at the top. Then click on the "Upload Submission" tab to get to the submission form.
Copying from the article, enter the metadata for Title, Authors, Date (just the year), Abstract, and Citation/Publisher Attribution.
Authors
Enter the authors in the same order they appear on the published version. Only enter e-mail addresses and institution for URI authors.
Citation/Publisher Attribution field:
If you don't already have a citation, you will need to look it up or create one. First check on the journal site; sometimes the journal will export a citation for you in plain text format. If not, create one using APA for sciences or MLA for humanities. Whenever possible, include a link to the published article.
Author Manuscript: If the article is an author manuscript, make sure this box is checked.
Terms of Use: If the article is a manuscript being uploaded under the OA Policy, make sure to check off the Open Access Policy Terms of Use.
Creative Commons: Sometimes we will be able to use the final published version of an article from an Open Access journal. If the journal carries a Creative Commons license, pick the appropriate license from the drop-down menu.
Click "Submit." Another screen will appear with the option to Publish and Update the site. Click on this button to fully complete the process.
