Uploading to DigitalCommons@URI
Go to DigitalCommons@URI and double check that the article you are about to upload hasn’t already been uploaded. (This sometimes happens if there are co-authors.)
Log in with the email urifacultypubs@gmail.com
Find the faculty member’s department (the author listed under the Name column A in the All Faculty Worksheet). Go to their department’s faculty publications series in DigitalCommons@URI.
Note: If you don’t see a faculty pubs series for that department, let Julia know and she will request a new series from Bepress.
Click on "Manage Submissions". This will bring you to a submissions form.
Enter the following metadata. Use the PDF as the source of information, or the journal's metadata page for the article.
Title of article
Authors
For each author, enter the URI authors' email addresses. If they are already in the system, a name should pop up.
Enter all co-author names. To add another line, click on the green + sign.
Publication date
Abstract
DOI (if there is one): Enter the DOI itself, without the link resolver
Citation/Publisher Attribution:
In this field, enter the citation to the published article. Take this from the PDF itself or journal site when possible, but if there’s no citation included on the PDF, create one using APA or MLA format.
Publisher Statement (does not apply to Open Access Journals):
Some publishers require a specific statement to be included along with any repository postings. We have been recording these statements in the spreadsheet Publisher Policies with information taken from Sherpa/RoMEO and publisher websites. In this spreadsheet, look up the journal and copy-paste the publisher statement (if any) into the DigitalCommons@URI field.
Creative Commons
If the journal uses a Creative Commons license (most OA Journals do this) choose the license from this drop-down menu.
If the journal does not use Creative Commons, check the “All Rights Reserved” box to indicate traditional copyright restrictions. (This would not apply to an OA journal.)
Select “Upload file from your computer,” attach the file, and click “Submit”.
