A number of faculty members have given permission to deposit their scholarship in DigitalCommons@URI. We are using a Google Docs spreadsheet to track faculty publications and journal policies. Specifically, we are tracking which version of an article we can archive in DigitalCommons@URI -- publisher pdf, post-print, and/or pre-print. For the journals that do allow posting of the publisher PDF, the next step is to track down those articles.
Go to the All Faculty Worksheets spreadsheet in Google Docs.
Sort by the “Version to Archive in IR” column A to Z. Scroll down to the ones that say "Publisher PDF".
Open the Faculty Publications folder on the Public server.
Search for the “Publisher PDF” articles in the URI electronic journals, one by one. If URI provides electronic access, download the article to the Faculty Publications folder (on the Public server) and rename it using the following file naming scheme:
lastname_YYYY_title-first-word
For example, say you are looking at Otto Gregory's CV and download the following article:
Thomas, Kimberly A., William B. Euler, Everett E. Crisman and Otto J. Gregory. "A Temperature Thiophenol on Gold as a Novel Substrate for Surface-Enhanced Absorption." Applied Spectroscopy. 54(3):366-370. March 2000.
The file name would be “gregory_2000_temperature”.
5. If you found the article and downloaded it, enter "Ready" in the Status column of the spreadsheet (column I). If you didn't find the article, enter"Not accessible". The grad student worker will be regularly checking for "Ready" articles and uploading them to DigitalCommons@URI.
