What does being a First-Generation College Graduate mean to you?
Being a First-Generation College Graduate means a sometimes difficult road since you do not have guidance with family. I relied on student support programs which were what made the difference for me.
What is your proudest moment from your time at UCSD?
I got started at UCSD with the TRIO SSSP program and went through their summer bridge experience that connected me with many similar-background individuals. Seeing the friends I met there complete their degrees alongside me is one of my proudest moments.
Who are the family members, friends or loved ones who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?
All the friends I have made throughout my college career have helped mold me into the better person I am today. I would thank all of them.
Who are the staff, faculty or mentors who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?
The staff and mentors members at TRIO had a huge influence in not just my academics but my confidence to finish my degree. I have had great experiences with professors at UCSD, especially within Rady, that show that they care about their students.
What do you plan or hope to do after graduating?
I will be working in finance after graduating. Long-term, I hope to be able to support my family and promote business as a career field.
