What does being a First-Generation College Graduate mean to you?
Being a First-Generation College Graduate means to me being a hard-worker with resilience because I, as well as many other first-gen, did not have much guidance to be where I am today and although hard, it is not impossible.
What is your proudest moment from your time at UCSD?
My proudest moment from my time at UCSD is being able to help other students feel welcomed on campus. It is hard to have a sense of belonging on campus so helping other students find their community away from home gives me a lot of happiness.
Who are the family members, friends or loved ones who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?
My friends and family have been the most influential throughout my college career. My family supported me emotionally and encouraged me to pursue a higher education. My friends were my backbone and they never let me give up when things were getting tough, instead we would plan and study together.
Who are the staff, faculty or mentors who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?
I owe a lot of my college experience to Berenice Jau, TRIO SSSP Director. I honestly doubt I would have finished with my education in UCSD if it wasn't for TRIO and the connections I was able to make through the program.
What do you plan or hope to do after graduating?
I plan to continue with my education and get my masters in geriatrics.
