What does being a First-Generation College Graduate mean to you?
Being a First-Generation College Graduate means to me that the sky is the limit. It means preserving beyond the traditional mold that I was told to fit in. And it means I have a true understanding and a really appreciation for the value of a college degree.
What is your proudest moment from your time at UCSD?
There are too many proud moments to count. I am grateful for each day I was able to study at such an amazing university.
Who are the family members, friends or loved ones who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?
Prof. Don DeAngelo | Cathedral Catholic High School - thank you for telling me that I deserved to go college and for giving me the courage to major in what I am most passionate it in. Prof. Christopher Sleeper | MiraCosta College - thank you for believing in me and catapulting me into one of the best 4-year universities in the country. I would not be here today if it was not for your mentoring and teaching. You have forever changed my life. Karl Huboi - thank you for being the best boss and the best friend anyone could ask for. You taught me how to work hard, roll with the punches, and never forget to smile. I had so many great college experiences because you gave me the day off! Mama, Papa, Sebastien & Matt - It has been a long road, but we finally did it! Thank you for your unwavering love and support. There were days when I didn't think I could do it or I felt like quitting, but I never considered it because I had you. I love you all so much!
