What does being a First-Generation College Graduate mean to you?
It means a stop to generational trauma for my family.
What is your proudest moment from your time at UCSD?
I thought I was going to drop out my first year. I called my dad telling me I didn’t think I could do it. Now years later, I am here and I did it.
Who are the family members, friends or loved ones who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?
Family and friends. I would like to tell my friend Lety how much I appreciate her because when I was in a bad emotional state she was always there to hear me cry no matter what even if she had worse things going on in her life she was always there for me. I was there for her. We were here for each other at a different level that we didn’t even share with our own families because our culture did not appreciate affection. Lety and I shared a lot of affectionate moments because we couldn’t do it with our own family.
What do you plan or hope to do after graduating?
Continue education.
