• What does being a First-Generation College Graduate mean to you?

Being a first-generation college graduate means that I've given some meaning to all of the sacrifices my parents have had to make. While graduating college may not automatically mean success, it opens up new opportunities for me, which is all my parents have ever wanted for me.

• What is your proudest moment from your time at UCSD?

Finishing college is definitely my proudest moment. I will be the first in my family to graduate from college and I am proud to have achieved it thanks to all of the support my parents, friends, and former teachers have given me. I am also very happy that I had the opportunity to work at the Early Childhood Education Center and any role I may have played in helping little babies learn and grow.

• Who are the family members, friends or loved ones who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?

To my parents, there's nothing I could ever say to express how grateful I am to have you as parents and for giving me all of your love. Ma, your unconditional love and support is why you're my best friend. Papa, your curiosity and desire to learn have inspired me my whole life. Thank you, to the greatest parents I could have ever asked for.

• What do you plan or hope to do after graduating?

After graduating I will continue my education by going to nursing school. I hope to obtain a Bachelor's and Master's degree in nursing to become a registered nurse and someday a nurse practitioner. My goal is to help people in my community as well as other communities in the world who may need it. I would also like to travel before the next pandemic hits.

• ¿Qué significa para ti obtener tu título universitario como graduado de primera generación?

Ser parte de la primera generación de graduados universitarios quiere decir que yo le he dado significado a todos los sacrificios de mis padres. Aunque graduarse de la universidad no representa automáticamente el éxito, me abre nuevas oportunidades, lo que siempre han querido mis papás para mi furturo.

• ¿Cual es el momento de mayor orgullo durante tu tiempo en UCSD?

Graduarme de la universidad ha sido mi momento de más orgullo. Voy a ser la primera persona en mi familia en graduarse de la universidad y me enorgullece lo que he logrado gracias al apoyo de mis papás, amigos y maestros. Me siento feliz de haber tenido la oportunidad de trabajar en el Centro Educativo de Primera Infancia, y mi papel en el aprendizaje y crecimiento de los bebés.

• ¿Quiénes son los miembros de tu familia, amigos o seres queridos que han sido más influyentes a lo largo de tu carrera universitaria? ¿Hay algunas palabras de agradecimiento que deseas compartir con ellos?

Para mis padres, no hay nada que pueda decir para expresar mi agradecimiento por darme todo su amor. Mamá, tu amor incondicional y apoyo son las razones por las que eres mi mejor amiga. Papá, tu curiosidad y deseo por aprender me han inspirado toda la vida. Gracias a los mejores padres que podría haber pedido.

• ¿Qué planeas o esperas hacer después de graduarte?

Después de graduarme, voy a continuar con mi educación en una escuela de enfermería. Espero obtener el título de carrera y maestría en enfermería para covertirme en enfermera titulada y algún día en una enfermera especialista. También me gustaría viajar antes de la siguiente pandemia.
