What does being a First-Generation College Graduate mean to you?
I am very happy and proud to be a first-generation college graduate. I know both my parents were not as privileged as I was growing up, so I am very thankful for their sacrifices and all in which they've done for me to be able to graduate from university.
What is your proudest moment from your time at UCSD?
Joining the organization KOTX. I am a transfer student, so my time at UCSD and at undergraduate was very limited. I joined KOTX during my second quarter at UCSD, and it wasn't till then that I formed my friend group and felt truly a part of the school and campus.
Who are the family members, friends or loved ones who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?
I want to say thank you first to my parents and my family. The transition from community college to university was tough for me, but they stuck by my side through it all. I would not have been able to done it without them. I also want to say thank you to all the people I've met and my friends here at UCSD. Two years flies by fast, so I am thankful for everyone who has contributed to making my short time at UCSD very memorable. Thank you KOTX for allowing me to be a part of a community that I thought I would've never found here at UCSD. It's been a great two years, and I wish everyone best for their future endeavours.
Who are the staff, faculty or mentors who have been most influential throughout your college journey? Are there any words of gratitude you would like to share with them?
I've grown to know the staff at the School of GPS well, as I have worked there for my entirety of my UCSD career. I have enjoyed my time working there immensely. I am very thankful for their kindness towards me these past two years.
What do you plan or hope to do after graduating?
I will begin work, which I plan to do so for a few years before going back to school to pursue my Masters.
